Live demonstration of ht://Miner
On January 1st, 2007 ht://Miner has been officially adopted by the Po-Net project. Po-Net has provided citizens of the Prato municipal area with services over the Internet since 1995. Prato is one of the biggest cities in the central part of Italy, with a metropolitan area of almost 250 thousand citizens. Web sites managed by the Po-Net project collect approximately 4.5 million user requests per month. As of June 2007, ht://Miner collects log files from 45 different servers, processing more than 2 million access log rows per day and discovering about 55 thousand user visits per day (on average). Currently, it is possible to view only one step of the analysis process that ht://Miner performs within the Po-Net project: web reporting of descriptive statistics. This website allows the navigation of usage metrics (user requests of pages - excluded web spider accesses and internal staff activity) on both a logical layer and a time layer.
From a logical point of view, the Po-Net project is a collection of independent web sites and ht://Miner organises URL requests into a hierarchy of categories, manually identified by classification experts through regular expression rules.
At the same time, users of the web reporting interface, can browse categories on a time line, by choosing days, months and years of request.
